QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Must be U.S. Canadian or Aus/NZ/UK trained and fully authorized to work in U.S.
  • NCCPA/ANCC (or equivalent) certification required.
  • BLS/PALS/NRP up-to-date certification required.
  • Experience in cardiology, required..
  • CNMI license required. (Application process assisted by Human Resources staff)

Licensing and credentialing takes 6-8 weeks (Process: Present CV and, if cleared, the candidate will be notified by email to submit three (3) recent references).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Work to the limit of your skills and enjoy the respect of patients and colleagues
  • Develop your stethoscope and echo skills in valve disease and congenital disease.
  • See tropical diseases you have only read about.
  • See Acute Rheumatic Fever patients (yes, ARF in the United States!).
  • Experience working in an environment with no Cath Lab and no “sky hook” Medevac.
  • No nuclear isotopes, so stress echo is how we diagnose coronary ischemia.
  • An EMR that is not a 4 letter word, and is as close to user-friendly as EMRs get.
  • No UR managers driving you crazy. Minimal interaction with HMO’s.
  • No “internet research articles” type of patients ready to challenge you.
  • Experience patients who say “thank you” and really are grateful for your services
  • We are a remote island, and the only hospital and ICU for more remote islands.
  • Our acuity runs from minor to catastrophic. Most of our patients have multiple medical issues compounded by financial and social restraints.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The nurse practitioner/physician assistant in this position performs a wide variety of work in his/her specialty and capacity as a member of the CHCC medical staff and may be required to assist in other departments within the Commonwealth Health Center.

  • Performs physical examinations and consultations, records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis, within prescribed guidelines.
  • Orders, interprets, supervises and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess cardiovascular disease, including Holter Monitors, stress tests and stress echoes, and Device Clinic within prescribed guidelines.
  • Submits treatment plans and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by cardiologist.
  • Recommends and/or prescribes referrals within scope of practice and licensure.
  • Helps expand our Heart Failure Clinic within prescribed guidelines.
  • Helps build a Rheumatic Heart Disease Clinic, an ACHD Clinic, an Outer Islands Outreach clinic, and a Heart Disease Prevention Clinic.
  • Participates in functions of the Department, including committees and community and hospital-based outpatient services.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Salary $95k (the CNMI enjoys one of the lowest tax burdens in the U.S.; Salary is equivalent to that of $144K in San Francisco and New York).  As a CNMI resident, tax rebates are described here: https://cnmilaw.org/pdf/cmc_section/T4/1708.pdf
